Crystal Palace look set to officially announce John Salako as their new first team coach.
The former left winger initially came in to help boss Alan Pardew temporarily at the start of July with the role, after Ben Garner departed the club.
However, Salako has impressed and the manager wants him to take on the job full-time. He was on the bench alongside Pardew for Saturday’s Premier League opener at Norwich City.
Pardew told the Advertiser last week that an offer was on the table for his former teammate and that he hoped Salako would take it.
Now, Salako himself has set the record straight and told the Advertiser on Monday it was pretty much a done deal and that he hoped it would be sorted by “Thursday or Friday”.
It is understood his representatives are finalising and looking over the contract offer. Salako’s television work as a pundit and match reporter will be put on hold as a result.
