Police plan for peaceful conduct of NGF meeting in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command says it has put in place security measures to ensure peaceful conduct of the meeting of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum billed to take place in Sokoto on November 16.
The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Shaiubu Gambo, announced this on Thursday in Sokoto in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
The police, Gambo said, had worked out an “effective operational order” for implementation by officers and men of the command across the state.
He said that area commanders and divisional police officers in the metropolis had been briefed on various security measures to be adopted during and after the meeting.
Gambo said that security personnel would be deployed across the town and its environs, including the places the governors would visit.
He urged residents of the state capital to cooperate with the police to ensure peaceful conduct of the meeting.
The commissioner also urged the public to provide information about suspicious characters to assist the police sustain the peace in the state.
