The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old student for alleged criminal intimidation in Gadaka town, Fika Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Abdulkarim said the suspect, a SS1 student of Government Secondary School, Fika, was arrested on Wednesday at about 9:30am.
He said the suspect allegedly threatened to kill his teacher, Malam Baba Abbas, after a minor disagreement.
He said: “Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have on February 14 called one Mallam Baba Abbas and told him that he is one of the Boko Haram insurgents planning to attack the school and annihilate everyone.
“This phone call thrown the school and the entire Fika community into pandemonium, which compelled the command to send reinforcement to the community for adequate security.
“However, the area is peaceful now, and the phone used by the suspect for the dastardly act had been recovered.”
Abdulkarim said the case was under investigation and anyone found wanting would face the wrath of the law.
