Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Globalupfront Newspaper (Online), Madu Onuorah.
According to available information, the former Bureau Chief of The Guardian newspaper was arrested on Wednesday at 6pm.
About 10 armed policemen picked up Onuorah from his residence in Lugbe, Abuja in two Sienna buses in the presence of his wife and children.
His phones were seized and he was not allowed to contact his lawyer or any of his relations before he was whisked away to Lugbe Police Station.

As at press time on Thursday, information gathered was that he was being taken to Ebonyi State for an offence that was not made known to him.
The management of Globalupfront newspapers has demanded the unconditional release of Onuorah.
It said: “Anybody who has any issue against Mr. Onuorah should approach the law court and not turn the Nigerian Police into a Gestapo outfit that bullies a man in the presence of his wife and children.

“That any second Mr. Onuorah spends in police custody constitutes a serious infringement against his fundamental rights and a continuation of the assault on freedom of expression that has become frequent occurrence in Nigeria recently.”
The Eagle Online recalls that no fewer than three top journalists have been arrested by the police and other security agents in the last two months, sparking reactions as to its appropriateness.
