Peter Aghahowa, the Head of Corporate Communication of the National Pension Commission, has advised retirees to visit their Pension Fund Administrators in order to ascertain their level of qualification for the pension enhancement.
Aghahowa in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday said the enhancement was for retirees on programmed withdrawal under the Contributory Pension Scheme.
He said the initiative was designed for retirees to earn more.
He said: “It is a way of increasing their monthly pension if at all they are qualified.”
He also encouraged employees with pension to update their profile.
A beneficiary from the initiative, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, said he received a substantial amount of money monthly, which made it easier for him to start a business and keep his family going.
Mohammed lauded the initiative, noting that it had helped to improve his life as a retiree and urged others to consult their PFAs to know their level of qualification.
