Oshiomole tasks Ihonvbere on repositioning Edo

The Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday advised the new Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, to contribute his wealth of experience to reposition the state to the next level.
Oshiomhole, who gave the advice during the oath taking ceremony by Ihonvbere at the Government House, Benin City, said there is the need to inject new blood in the administration of the state because the challenges ahead are much.
He said: “The challenge is to take Edo State back to its old glory. There is no doubt that you will add value to delivering service efficiently as an accomplished, seasoned academician and politician.
“The vision of the administration is to reposition the state and take it to the next level. What matters is for everybody, wherever we find ourselves we should give our all in the overall interest of the people.
“We have demonstrated that we are one across the length and breadth of the state. Edo people are enterprising and courageous and we have a vision to refine the politics and return power to the people.”
The governor congratulated Ihonvbere on his well deserved appointment, which, according to him, is strictly on merit.
After subscribing to the relevant oath of office, Ihonvbere said he has accepted to work full time with his energy, commitment and vision to build the best political party and expand on the great work already done by Oshiomhole.
He said: “People plan but God decides what will happen. I thank the Action Congress of Nigeria for considering me for the appointment. It is not the position that matters but what you do with it, you must have the spirit of service which should be applied at any level.
“Edo State is now a landmark state in the country. It has never happened for any political party to win overwhelmingly in the eighteen local governments and this is due to the mobilization of the party for the people to embrace the essence of democratization.”
While pledging absolute loyalty to the governor, the new Secretary to the State Government maintained that he has never doubted that governance is about the people and building networks that will make them achieve their goals with their abilities.
