The Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, said it had launched an investigation to track down the killer of a man, Segun Adegbite, who was allegedly hacked to death by yet-to-be-identified individuals at a construction site located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
It was learnt that the 34-year-old victim, who reportedly came from Ikorodu axis of Lagos, was gruesomely murdered on Monday at about 10:00am following a violent altercation with the assailants on the construction site.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the development, noted that the incident was reported at the Sagamu Police Division by one Mr Adedeji Adegbola residing at Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos State.
According to her, Adegbola had reported at the station that “one of his security personnel named Hassan, a local security guard assigned to the construction site near the Witch Tech Factory, contacted him that a violent altercation was taken place at the site involving the victim and some unknown individuals.”
Following this report, Odutola said detectives hastily arrived at the location only to find Segun’s body lying in a pool of blood, with multiple machete wounds on his body.

“A blood-stained machete was recovered as exhibits and the body has been removed and taken to Live-Well Morgue for autopsy,” she said.
“The security guard, who fled for his safety, could not be located or contacted for further information,” she added.
Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, said preliminary investigation has commenced and updates will be provided as it becomes available.
