The Nigeria Olympic Commission (NOC) has constituted 11 commissions to assist the committee to promote the ideals of the Olympic Movement in the country, it has been gathered.
A source at the NOC said that the committee was specially requested to include two commissions into its fold by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The two special commissions are the Liaison & Culture and Sports and Environment.
The nine other commissions are the Marketing, Technical, Athletes, Olympic Education and Sport-For-All.
The rest are the Medical and Scientific, Ethics and Appeals, Women and Sports, Anti-doping and the Amuwo Odofin Project.
An official at the NOC said the commissions would be headed by competent members of the NOC executive board.
The source said that commissions would be inaugurated on a yet-to-be fixed date by the NOC, led by Habu Ahmed Gumel.
Gumel, a vice-president of International Volleyball Federation and Nigeria’s lone member in the IOC is the highest ranked Nigerian in international sporting Movement. (NAN)
