Generaal Kenneth Minimah, Hon. Daniel Igali and Prince Timothy Nsirim on Tuesday were re-elected as President into the Nigeria Boxing, Wrestling and Judo Federations respectively.
General Minimah and Nsirim were both unopposed, but Igali defeated 1st Vice Chairman of UWW Africa, Chief Austin Edeze, by 34 to 16 votes to retain his position.
In the board of the boxing federation are: Prince Kolawole Matthew (North Central), Yila Yusuf (North East), Ayandibu Femi (North West), Adewale Edun (South West), Ogbu Theodore (South East) and Azania Omo Agege (South South).
On the board of Judo ar: Alhaji Damisa Suleiman (North Central), Adamu Mamoud (North East), Engr Suleman Aliu (North West) and Prof. Emma Mazi (South East).
The South West could not produce a zonal representative after elections ended in stalemate on four occasions.
In Wrestling: Albert Atiwurcha (North East), Christopher Anpila (North Central), Habib Abubakar (North West), Prince F.A Adenekan (South West) and Chinoye Beatrice (South East).
Igali vowed not to rest in the next four years until he produces a gold medalist at the Olympics.
He said training have been on for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, just as Blessing Oborududu and Odunayo Adekuoroye won gold medals at the Islamic Solidarity games.
He revealed that three Nigerian wrestlers will enjoy scholarship from the Commonwealth, which will last for six months.
He said: “The athletes are preparing seriously to make sure they remain fit. I use my first four years to build some athletes, this remaining four will be used to win at least two medals of any color for my country.
“I’m not always happy when I’m around my friends and other Presidents when they brag about winning Olympic medals. I will use the last drop of my blood to see that Wrestling achieves that feat.
“Three Nigerian wrestlers – Blessing Oborududu, Aminat Adeniyi and Odunayo Adekuoroye – have secured Commonwealth scholarships for six months and I know this will help the athletes.”
Igali noted that if funds are accessed, the nation will witness massive medal haul.
