The Niger State Independent National Electoral Commission has inaugurated an 11-man committee for the Inter-Agency Advisory Committee on the distribution of permanent voter cards and continuous voter registration in the state.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger State, Dr. Emmanuel Onucheyo, while inaugurating the Committee at the INEC office in Minna on Thursday, said that the committee was mandated to draw a road map in order to have an effective Voter Education and Publicity Programme in the state devoid of any hitches.
Onucheyo urged the members to make use of their respective experiences and professional background to ensure the attainment of the set goals, stressing that the committee will determine the exact content of the programme, promotion mechanisms, strategic places of implementation and precise target audience.
He commended the state government for its effort in contributing to the membership of the committee.
He said Niger State was at the third phase of the programme scheduled to commence with the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) from August 22 to 24, 2014 and end with the Continuous Voter Registration from August 28 to 31, 2014.
Onucheyo therefore directed all the committee members to fully engage stakeholders at the local government level like the security agencies, NYSC and traditional rulers in order to have full coverage of the state.
