Hajj: Akinjide urges FCT pilgrims to be good ambassadors

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, has advised pilgrims from the territory for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to be good ambassadors of the country.
The minister, who paid a scheduled visit to the permanent Hajj Camp along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, assured the pilgrims of their comfort and security while at the camp before their transition to Jeddah to perform the pilgrimage.
Akinjide told the pilgrims that the little delay in the Hajj Operations has been resolved with the Saudi authorities and the country has resumed flight operations to the Holy land.
She said: “The FCT Administration remains committed and will to do everything possible to ensure that FCT contingent gets the best treatment.
“I urge you to be good ambassadors of the FCT and the country in general.
“Pray for the peaceful coexistence and prosperity of our dear nation.”
Akinjide commended Unity Bank for donating of a block of 12 toilets and bathrooms for use of the female pilgrims and called on other corporate organisations to partner with the FCT Administration in completing the second phase of the permanent hajj camp.
The minister was presented with a certificate of merit by the National Coordinator (Women Affairs) of the Eagle Eye Hajj Monitors, Hajia Modinat Mohammed, for fulfilling her promise to make the permanent camp operational for this year’s Hajj.
Kabo and Max Airlines have been shortlisted to airlift FCT pilgrims to Jeddah for the Hajj.
About 1,000 FCT pilgrims had been airlifted out of 3,000.
The minister was received at the Hajj Camp by the FCT 2012 Amirul Hajj, Gen. Abdullahi Bagudu Mamman (Rtd).
Also at the Camp to receive the minister were the Director of Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Surajo Ado Faskari; the Special Assistant to the Hon. Minister of State, Alhaji Ibraheem Ibraheem; and the Amirul Hajj Team – Alhaji Atiku Kurawa, Alhaji Mustapha Isma’il Khalifa and Alhaja Habeebat Babata-Sulaiman.
