An evening fire near the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, Lagos State on Tuesday has allegedly left five persons dead.
Though information as at press time was sketchy, a senior police officer in the Divisional Police Station in the area confirmed the development to The Eagle Online.
The officer put the death toll at five.
The fire was said to have started at about 7:20pm on Tuesday.
The family was said to be from Enugu State.
The fire at 27, Michael Ogun Street, Lawanson, Surulere area of Lagos State was said to have gutted a bungalow, killing a family of five and destroying property worth millions of naira.
The source of the fire was yet to be ascertained as at press time.
A two-month-old girl, mother, father, a girl and a woman, identified as the man’s mother-in-law, were said to have died in the inferno.
The Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaq Fadipe, has confirmed the fire incident.
