Five Deputy Comptrollers General resign jointly from Customs

In what appears an unusual development, five Deputy Comptrollers General of the Nigeria Customs Service have jointly resigned from the Service.
The resignation became public knowledge on Thursday night.
The NCS has six Deputy Comptrollers General.
Their letter of resignation was addressed to the Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The DCGs said they decided to resign voluntarily having attained the pinnacle of their career.
The five retiring DCGs, whose names appeared on the letter, are: Atte A. J.; Musa T. A.; Mera I. M.; Nwosu A. C.; and Adewuyi A. A.
They said in the letter: “We the under-listed officers currently on the rank of Deputy Comptroller of Customs met today, 29 October 2015 and unanimously decided to voluntarily retire from the service of Nigeria Customs Service haven risen to the rank of Deputy Comptroller General.
“We wish to thank the President for giving us the opportunity to serve our great nation, Nigeria.”
The development appears to be a fallout of the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint retired Colonel Hameed Ali, a non-career officer, as the Comptroller General of the NCS.
There had been no official pronouncement on the development as at press time.
