The abductors of the three workers of OKMAS Nigeria limited, the contracting firm handling the Patani-Oduophori Road project for Niger Delta Development Commission, have remained incommunicado.
Six days after, no positive news has been heard from the seven unknown gunmen who kidnapped two expatriates and a Nigerian in Patani Local Government Area of Delta
State.
The victims were reportedly abducted last Wednesday at the construction site.
The Public Relations Manager of the company, Owhondah Ebere, gave the names of the expatriates as Sari Naser Karin, a Syrian, and Tarek Maroun, a Lebanese, while the Nigerian was simply identified as Sahara.
Ebere stated that the gunmen, numbering seven, all armed with AK 47 riffles and dressed in military attires, stormed the project site and whisked away the three staff to an unknown destination.
He said: “The gunmen came in speedboats through the Sagbama creek to Agoloma-Toru-Apalabiri community and subsequently escaped via the same route.”
He explained that it was the first recorded case of kidnap of staff of the company since the commencement of the project in 2013, adding that a formal complaint had been lodged with the police and the Department Secret Services headquarters in the state capital of Asaba.
He said that the company was yet to be contacted get by the abductors, a situation which has led to workers of the company laying down their tools at the project site.
The aggrieved workers demanded for adequate security for the workers to forestall future reoccurrence and for the immediate release of their colleagues..
Meanwhile, the state’s Police Public Relations Office, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, has promised that the command has spread out it dragnet to arrest the perpetrators.
