Entertainers mourn Nomoreloss in style

Entertainers gathered in Lagos late on Thursday to celebrate late musician and comedian, Olumuyiwa Osinuga, aka Nomoreloss, at an event tagged: “Service of Songs and Tribute.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the family of Nomoreloss attended the event held at Koga Studios in Oregun, Ikeja.
Among the audience were entertainers like Charly Boy, Alariwo, Weird MC, OJB Jezreel, Yinka Davies, J. Martins, Daddy Showkey, Ruggedman and Omo Baba.
The first part of the event, which involved service of songs, prayers and sermon, was moderated by Sunday Bankole of the Peniel Mission in Ikeja.
Bankole, in his sermon: “Victory over death,” reading from 1 Thessalonians 4:13, urged believers not grieve over the death of believers because they were only asleep.
He said: “We gathered for ourselves because there is nothing we can do for him again.
“Children of God don’t die, they sleep.
“Be steadfast in God.
“Death is separation from God and if you have Christ, you shall live forever.
“Nomoreloss is with God because he lived for Christ.
“Any individual’s trumpet can sound at any time and when people die around you, it is a great message to re-examine yourself.”
The priest later prayed for the family of the bereaved before the entertainers took over the show to deliver tribute and performances.
Weird MC described Nomoreloss as a man with no ego who had zero tolerance for mediocrity.
She called him “creativity personified, eccentric, selfless and kind”.
She thanked Nomoreloss for his “true friendship” while he was alive.
OJB Jezreel recounted how Nomoreloss saved his life by raising funds for his kidney transplant in 2014 and said he was alive today because of him.
He said: “We cannot find another person in the industry like him.
“I had known him for 20 years and he is very loyal.
“There is no other sincere giver like him in the industry.”
Tony Bob Manuel, who once managed Nomoreloss, disclosed that the moniker, Nomoreloss was coined from Solomon spelt backwards.
Manuel urged other practitioners in the entertainment industry to give opportunities to up and coming artists like Nomoreloss did.
Rapper, Ruggedman, who collaborated with Nomoreloss on his hit single: “Ehen,” said he was not going to mourn the late singer but would celebrate him as a brother.
Ruggedman said he had known Nomoreloss all his musical career and urged people to cheer up because Nomoreloss was always cheerful.
He also advised people to always share their problems with their close friends.
Dede Mabiaku, an Afrobeat exponent, narrated how he stopped Nomoreloss from managing other artists to doing his own music.
He also urged other established entertainment practitioners to support young artists, just like Nomoreloss did.
The entertainers then took over the stage to sing some of Nomoreloss’ most loved tracks as well as remixing their own tracks to fit in with the tone of the evening.
Nomoreloss died in a Lagos hospital in the early hours of March 21 after a brief illness.
He was known for a couple of evergreen tracks: Iyawo Asiko and Ololufe, which were among the songs in his debut album: “Let Them Say,” released in 2006.
He was married to Rhythm 93.7 FM On-Air-Personality, Phoenix, with whom he had a young daughter.
His burial is slated for April 8 at the Ikoyi Cemetery.
