The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious beliefs, to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan, especially the values of good neighbourliness, patriotism and respect for the sanctity of human life.
Governor Ahmed, who stated this in his Eid-el-fitri message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, identified greed and selfishness as causes of Nigeria’s socio-political, economic and security problems.
He emphasised that if Nigerians demonstrate the kind of compassion and love for one another as displayed during the holy month of ramadan, Nigeria will surmount its numerous challenges and become a role model to other nations.
The Governor advised Muslims, especially, to see the eid-el-fitri not only as a period for mere festivity but as one of deep spiritual devotion and rededication to the values of humility and respect for the dignity of human life.
Governor Ahmed, who congratulated the Muslim Ummah and the entire people of Kwara State for witnessing another Eld-el-fitri celebration, assured them that his administration remains committed to the realization of its campaign promises, stressing that the current economic downturn in the country is a passing phase in the match to greatness and the State’s financial independence.
Dr. Ahmed thanked Kwarans for their unflinching support thus far, urging them to remain steadfast as the state continues its steady stride towards building a Kwara State that matches the people’s dream and overcoming the prevailing financial challenges.
