The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria, has urged the newly inducted members of the board to uphold professional standards.
Bappah gave the advice on Thursday during the induction ceremony of the newly members of the board in Abuja.
He urged them to uphold the highest standard of the profession in spite of distractions and temptations while dealing with the public.
The Registrar stressed the need for standard of service delivery that would compete with international best practices, adding that it must be customer-oriented.
According to him, the newly inducted members should maintain integrity and professionalism.
Bappah added that they should avoid professional situations that could embarrass and disrepute the Board and dental technology profession.
He added: “In view of the increasingly harsh economic realities and the security situation in the country, I am delighted to convey that the board has the interest of our people at heart.
“And it is actively engaging with the educational institutions offering dental technology to conduct induction ceremonies either at the schools themselves or at the zonal level.

“This will decentralise the process and reduce the tedium and pressure it places on graduates, officials and other stakeholders who are forced to travel and suffer numerous inconveniences.
“Once again, congratulations for this honour given to you to serve as members of the Dental Technology profession and also as health sector professionals in Nigeria”.
In his remarks, Paul Anche, Deputy Director, Dental Technology, National Hospital Abuja, said that the inductees needed to continue learning in order to get the best quality of life.
The Deputy Director, who presented a paper titled “Dental Technologist, Career Pathway, Progression and Challenges”, called on the inductees to always upgrade themselves to meet international standards.
Anche saluted parents who spent monies on the inductees, stressing that teachers at various levels under the board must encourage their students to learn.
“Keep trying until things get better, qualification is just a basic and not a yardstick”, Anche stated.
Also, Col. Chukwu Obasi, Registrar/CEO, Institute of Health Care Marketing of Nigeria, who was also the Chairman of the occasion, appealed to the inductees not to allow the economic situation of the country or the environment to hold them down.
He added that they must engage with the mindset of life-long learning, as well as invest in reading books
The President, Association of Dental Technologist of Nigeria, Comrade Stephen Eyarefe, also urged the inductees to commit themselves to imbibe the habit of learning, adding that the medical field is dynamic, with advancements in materials and techniques occurring regularly.
Represented by the Vice President, Ngene Chukwuemeka, Eyarefe asked the inductees to master everything and never underestimate the power of mastering the fundamentals.
He added that a strong foundation in the basics of dental technology would serve as a springboard for their career growth.
