A Croatian footballer has tragically died during a match aged just 25.
Bruno Boban, who played for Croatian third tier side Marsonia collapsed and seemed to lose consciousness moments after the ball hit him in the chest from close range.
Players immediately called for help and medics spent 40 minutes trying to revive him but were unable to do so.
Boban’s cause of death is not yet known.
In 2014, the footballer posted a picture of himself on his Instagram account of him lying in a hospital bed wearing a white gown, captioning it ‘operation performed successfully’.
This news comes three weeks after Fiorentina captain Davide Astori died in his sleep the night before their Serie A match against Udinese.
