An Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro in Ilorin on Tuesday dissolved a 10-year-old Islamic marriage between Rasheedat Abeje and Suleiman Adeyi, both of Okelele Area of the city.
The judge, Idris Etsu, gave the ruling after the court’s bailiff deposed an affidavit on the agreement by Adeyi for the marriage to be dissolved.
“The bailiff said he called Adeyi on the phone and he said he was no longer interested in the marriage,” Etsu said.
He then ordered that Abeje should observe the three-months “iddah” (waiting) period before she could remarry.
Also, the judge granted the woman the custody of the only child of the marriage.
Earlier, Abeje had filed for a divorce, due to what she described as lack of love, affection and care from her husband.

She also asked for the custody of their child and maintenance fees of N20,000 monthly,
Abeje told the court that her husband was not responsible and did not care for her and the child.
She also agreed to take full responsibility of the child.
