A businesswoman, Saratu Musa, on Thursday appeared in a Karu Grade I Area Court, sitting in Abuja for alleged deceit and breach of trust.
The defendant, who resides at Nyanya, Abuja is being tried for criminal breach of trust and cheating, the offences she denied committing.
The prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju told the court that Ayuba Pakka of New Nyanya, Nasarawa State reported the matter at Nyanya Police Station on April 7.
He told the court that the defendant allegedly deceived the complainant into loaning her N35,000 to boost her business with a promise to pay the loan within one week.
Adeyanju alleged that the defendant, with intent to cheat the complainant, dishonestly converted the said money to her personal use and reneged on her promise to refund the loan.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 22 and 312 of the Penal Code
The Judge, Inuwa Maiwa, granted the defendant bail in the Sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until July 13, for hearing.
