The Police on Thursday arraigned a 32-year-old businessman, Falilu Rasheed, before a Grade l Area Court, Kabusa in Abuja, for allegedly stealing N300,000 from a shop.
Rasheed, who resides in Galadimawa, Abuja, was arraigned on a four-count charge of criminal trespass, assault, causing grievous hurt and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecution counsel, O. S. Osho, told the court that the complainant, Aminu Hassan of Fadama Borehole, Galadimawa, reported the matter at the Police Station on Aug. 23
Osho alleged that the defendant entered into the shop pretending to buy “Bama”, mayonnaise, but as soon as he left, the sum of N300, 000 disappeared.

The offences, he said, contravened sections 349, 269, 245 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 26 for trial.
