The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the last governorship election in Ondo State, Barrister Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has described the reelection of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State as refreshing.
Akeredolu in a statement on Sunday, said the victory was made possible by the politically informed people of the state, adding: “The politically informed people of the state have shown to the whole world, particularly those who turned their land into a virtual military and paramilitary camp, that they alone will decide who leads them.
“The deluded potentates who trod the path of impunity, exhibiting brazen disregard for the rights of citizens, should learn from this development. The people are the ultimate captains of their own ships.”
Akeredolu said the unmistakable message the people of the state have sent to their perceived oppressors from outside the state was that no amount of intimidation will affect their determination to express gratitude to anyone who serves them in truth and in spirit.
He said Aregbesola remains a good example for his people and that his good works spoke for him.
He added: “The APC is poised to bring about quality change in the polity. The people recognise their true leaders as against brash impostors who have subjected them to all manner of privation.
“I join others to congratulate the people’s governor, Learned Symbol and wish him a more fulfilling second term.”
