Adeleke buried amidst tears, attack on Aregbesola’s aide

The remains of Senator Isiaka Adeleke has been buried at his residence in Ede, Osun State on Monday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The corpse was brought to the residence from Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo at about 10:46am, where the Chief Immam of Ede, Alhaji Moshood Akaje, performed the funeral prayers at about 11:03am.
Adeleke’s body was immediately buried after the prayers amidst tears by families, friends and political associates.
Governors Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State were among the dignitaries that attended the burial.
Earlier in his sermon, Alhaji Ibrahim Adekilekun, the Chief Imam of Ansarudeen, Ede, described Adeleke as a man loved by all during his life time.
Adekilekun, who noted that death is inevitable for all humans, urged family members not to fight anyone over Adeleke’s death.
Adeleke, 62, was the representative of Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate on the platform of All Progressives Congress before his death on Sunday at a private hospital in Osogbo.
Meanwhile, angry youths before the burial attacked Idiat Babalola, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Diaspora.
Babalola came for the burial of Adeleke.
She was mobbed by the youths who prevented state government officials from attending the burial, alleging that the senator was poisoned.
It took the intervention of policemen with an order from the State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye, who was present, to ferry her out.
The atmosphere at the late Adeleke’s house was tensed as sympathisers and family members were weeping profusely in spite the heavy presence of security personnel.
