The Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, has directed his lawyers to challenge the court order that a former Deputy Governor of the state, Bala Ngilari, be sworn in as governor.
Fintiri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the now truncated October 11, 2014governorship bye-election in Adamawa State, said this on Wednesday.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had on Wednesday directed that Fintiri should immediately vacate his seat and Ngilari sworn in.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola, who delivered the judgment in a suit brought before him by Ngilari, also ordered the stoppage of the by election scheduled for Saturday.
Fintiri, however, said shortly after the judgment that he had directed his lawyers to appeal against the judgment.
He said: “Our lawyers are preparing their papers and will file an appeal in the next 20 minutes.
“We are awaiting the result of the appeal and we still belief the election will take place.”
