Aboderin debunks leadership change at NBB

The Secretary of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, Remi Aboderin, on Mondaydebunked reports that there was change in the leadership of the body.

Aboderin, in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, described the report as “unfounded”.

Media reports had it that there was infighting in the organisation, which led to a change of hands in the leadership of the body.

Aboderin said that the status quo still remained, ahead of an executive meeting, slated for December 30 in Lagos.

He said: “The board is intact we are going to have an executive meeting on Tuesdaywhere most of the issues will be discussed.

“We are looking forward to a better 2015 in professional boxing.

“So the stakeholders are working round the clock to create a better environment for the sport.”

According to Aboderin, the outcome of the round-table on Tuesday will determine the fate of the current board and professional boxing in Nigeria.

The sports administrator, who allayed fears of in-fighting, said that there was no cause for alarm as the status quo was being maintained.

“We are working to have conducive platform where athletes, promoters and sponsors will find a safe haven to work in,” he said.
