The Adamawa State Police Command on Monday presented three of the four commissioners in the state earlier declared wanted by the state House of Assembly.
On Thursday, the House directed the Commissioner of Police in the state to issue warrants of arrest for four commissioners.
The commissioners’ arrest was ordered for their failure to honour summons to appear before the state legislature.
The legislature, therefore, ordered the state Commissioner of Police to bring the affected commissioners to the House on Monday by 10am.
The three commissioners, brought personally to the Speaker’s office by the Commissioner of Police, John Abakasanga, were Lilian Stephen, Health; Lucy Ishaku, Agriculture; and Alhaji Ahmed Gorko, Commerce.
The Commissioner for Land and Survey, Malam Abdulrahaman Shaibu, was said to be “still at large”.
Ushering the commissioners later into the Assembly chamber, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Salau Usman, told the legislators that the police could not get the Commissioner for Land and Survey.
“I called him on phone and he promised that he will come,” Usman said.
Responding, the Speaker, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, thanked the police for reacting accordingly to the House’s directive.
Fintiri still urged the police to look for the Commissioner for Land and Survey.
The three commissioners were summoned to answer questions on the implementation of the 2013 budget of their respective ministries.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Kobis Thimnu; the state Executive Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue, Alhaji Ahmad Tuta; and the state Coordinator of the Millennium Development Goals, Alhaji Adamu Garbajo, could not appear before the House on Monday as scheduled.
The three officers had written to the House seeking for a new date to appear because of some engagements and their requests were granted.
