Relations of victims of the recent bomb blast in Jos, Plateau State, which claimed over 118 lives, with several others injured, have accused the Nigerian Government of not fulfilling its promise of picking up the hospital bill of those on admission.

But this has not materialised.
Checks by The Eagle Online is that the relations of the victims are paying through their noses for the treatment of their loved ones.
A brother of one of the victims of the bomb blast, who is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at the Jos University Hospital, lamented the pains families are going through to pay or buy medications for their love ones.
Sabastine Abu Saidu, in a note of protest, said: “While in the hospital on Thursday, I was handed some drug prescriptions, which my brother need immediately.
“With N70,000 in my pocket, I thought I was ok.
“I dashed to the pharmacy with the prescriptions but was surprised when I was given a bill of N111,000, meaning I could not afford the full prescriptions required.
“At my level, I am struggling and I can only imagine what many other family members are going through.
“This is not fair.
“I urge us all to join voices to call on our government to live up to their responsibility.
“Government should not play politics with serious matters such as this by just paying lip service to peoples’ plight.
“Anybody, just anybody could have been a victim.”
Saidu said this is the fate of the family members of other victims.
The Plateau State Commissioner for Information, Olivia Dazyem, could not be reached for her position as at press time.
Dazyem had on Wednesday said the state government would bear the cost of the treatment of the victims.
