EFCC raids residences of Ambode, his ex-Chief of Staff over alleged N9.9b fraud

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have raided the residences of a former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode, and his then Chief of Staff in Epe area of Lagos State in connection with the ongoing probe of alleged N9.9 billion fraud.
The EFCC had before now obtained a court order to freeze the three bank accounts in which the money was said to have been lodged.
According to the Agency, the accounts were operated by the Permanent Secretary in the office of Ambode’s Chief of Staff, Adewale Adesanya.
The Acting Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Tony Orilade, confirmed the development.
Orilade said: “Our men have been drafted to the residences of Ambode and his former Chief of Staff in Epe in respect of an investigation.
“They are there as I speak with you.”
