An Arabic teacher, Ashimiyu Shittu, 30, on Thursday appeared in Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ court in Ibadan, Oyo State for allegedly defiling one of his female pupils.
Shittu, a resident of Kara council, Egbeda area, Ibadan, faces a one count charge of unlawful carnal knowledge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Fatola, told the court that Shittu committed the offence on November 14, about 5pm at Egbeda area, Ibadan by having unlawful carnal knowledge of an 11-year-old pupil.
Fatola said the accused lured the minor into his room and had “carnal knowledge of her without her consent”.
He said the offence contravened section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo state 2000.
The court did not take plea of the defendant.
The Chief Magistrate, Modina Akanni, remanded the defendant in Agodi prison pending the outcome of the legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till January 12 for mention.
