Fifty-nine officers and men of the Nigerian Immigration Service who have distinguished themselves in their various duties have been decorated with their news ranks in Delta State.
While they were charged to work harder to justify their new status to get more of such, they were equally warned against insubodination.
The state Comptroller of the service, Hamad Ishaku, at the command’s headquarters along Ibusa Road, Asaba, said although the officer in charge of investigation, DCP Chinwe Obionyeakagbu, merited her new rank, it was however in fulfillment of the promise made by the Comptroller-General of the service, David Paradang, when he took the mantle of leadership, not to delay promotions unwarrantedly that the promotions were done.
Ishaku said: “Officers and men of the service are impressed and happy with his leadership qualities, which have brought smiles to their faces.”
While congratulating those promoted, he described Paradang’s style of operation as “one that has bettered the welfare packages, promotion and training of officers”, hence he tasked beneficiaries to be “loyal and dutiful”.
In their separate remarks, Ishaku’s counterpart in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Obiageli Obiajulu, and the state boss of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Joseph Icha, advised the newly promoted officers to shun acts that are capable of bringing the profession into disrepute.
Obiajulu said: “Promotion comes from God.
“Have the fear of God as you serve the country.
“Be a good model to your subordinates.
“Be humble and work hard so that other promotions will come.”
