A Peoples Democratic Party senatorial aspirant for Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Bode Ola, has warned the All Progressives Congress members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly of the consequences of throwing the state into chaos in furtherance of their agenda to frustrate Governor Ayodele Fayose’s administration.
Ola declared that Ekiti State people will not allow the APC lawmakers and their desperate leaders to throw the state into chaos.
Reacting to the alleged plan by a former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, to lead some of the APC lawmakers with thugs to the State House of Assembly Complex on Monday, Ola said in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday: “That will be a joke taken too far.”
He said Ekiti State people clearly rejected the APC on June 21 and any attempt to thwart the will of the people will be resisted.
He said: “Our people spoke loudly on June 21 by overwhelmingly electing Ayodele Fayose as their governor.
“The APC lawmakers and their Lagos sponsors should no that any plot against Governor Fayose is a declaration of war on Ekiti people and no political party can wage war against the people successfully.”
Speaking further, Senator Ola alleged that the APC lawmakers were plotting chaos so that the House of Representatives can take over legislative functions in Ekiti State.
He said the plot will fail.
The alert is coming a few days after Omirin and 18 other lawmakers elected on the platform of the APC promised to return to the state after a self-exile.
The Police Commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, warned politicians to refrain from taking laws into their hands and to desist from the use of thugs to pursue their agenda.
The Police vowed to use all means, legally permitted, to prevent the breakdown of law and order in any part of the state and to prosecute offenders.
The statement reads: “The State Police Command has received an intelligence report that some group of people are planning to invade the state to disrupt the existing peace and cause break down of law and order.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Taiwo Lakanu fdc, has raised the alert level of the personnel. He has directed policemen all over the state to commence high visibility patrol and stop and search operations to prevent criminal infiltration of the state and importation of dangerous weapons.
“The Commissioner uses this medium to warn political actors in the state and their followers to respect constituted authority and due process. They are also advised to refrain from taking laws into their hands and desist from the use of thugs to pursue their agenda.
“The Command shall apply all means, legally permitted, to prevent breakdown of law and order in any part of the state and shall apply the full weight of the law on any person or group of persons that violate the peace of the state under whatever guise.”
