The United Nation Children’s Fund and other relevant stakeholders are meeting in Gombe State to develop a 2017 action plan for the Child Protection System Strengthening for the state.
The three-day meeting is organised by the UNICEF’s Bauchi Filed Office with support of European Union, United Nations and other international organisations.
In a remark, the Child Protection Socialist, UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Ladi Alabi, said the meeting was designed to consolidate the child protection system priorities in the state.
Alabi added that the meeting would create avenue for stakeholders to brainstorm and factor out positive ideas that would enable a functional system to be put in place.
Alabi said: “A system that would safeguard the future of children in the state. We are here to draw a 2017 action plan four child protection system strengthening for this state.
“The whole idea is to consolidate the state child protection system strengthening priorities and modelling programme.
“We shall also make a draft of the monitoring and evaluation framework for the action plan and as well agree on the next steps to be adopted in order to make the children in this state safe from any form of violence.”
Declaring the meeting open, Alhaji Mohammed Adamu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development, said the training was timely.
Adamu said: “This training is apt, because as a state we are determined to give our children and our children’s children a better living; a better and more conducive environment.”
He charged the participants to pay wrap attention in the course of the training so as to enable children in the state be free of any form of violence.
The three-day training has traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, legal practitioners, among others as participants.
