The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed that two children lost their lives in a fire outbreak in Hadejia Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the incident on Friday in statement he issued in Dutse.
Shiisu said the deceased: Khadija Muhammad, 10, and Haruna Muhammad, 8, were killed by the fire on January 11 at about 6:30am at Arki village, Hadejia.
He said the police received report that on the same day at about 6:30am, a fire outbreak killed two children at the residence of one Muhammad Dahiru of Arki village.
“Two of his biological kids died as a result of the incident, while the rooms and other valuables razed,” he said.
Shiisu said that a team of policemen rushed to the scene and put the inferno with the assistant of good samaritans.
The spokesman said that the corpses referred to the General Hospital Hadejia for autopsy were later released to the parents for burial.
According to him, preliminary investigation indicated that the fire was caused by electrical fault.
