Three policemen and a fish seller were killed, with many injured on Thursday when armed robbers attacked First City Monument Bank branch on Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos State.
Sources said the gunmen, numbering over 12, reached the Island through waterways in canoes.
They were dressed in military camouflage uniforms.
It was learnt that immediately the robbers reached the bank branch, they opened fire.
The operation lasted exactly 25 minutes.
The robbers killed three policemen and a fish seller.
Many people were also said to have sustained gunshot injuries.
When contacted on the phone, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed there was robbery at the said bank.
Nwosu, however, said three persons were killed in the attack.
According to him, two of the victims were policemen.
The PPRO added that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area led the police to dislodge the robbers.
He said: “Investigation into the robbery attack has commenced.
“We are already on the trail of the fleeing robbers and very soon we shall smash them.”
