The Executive Secretary of NJC, Ahmed Saleh who appeared before Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, chaired by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele to give overview of 2021 budget and defend 2022 budget proposal which is pegged at N120 billion, said galloping inflation had forced judiciary to roll some of their projects in 2021 to 2022 budget.

The group; the Incorporated Trustees of Alaigbo Development Foundation, also sued the Federal Judicial Service Commission, President of the Court of Appeal, Federal Character Commission (FCC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as 2nd to 5th defendants respectively.

In continuation of its Emergency Meeting, the National Judicial Council accepted the result of the preliminary assessment of the petitions against Justice W. S. N. Onnoghen and Justice I.T. Muhammad that the petitions were worthy of further investigation and should not be terminated under Rule 17 of the Judicial Discipline Regulations of the Council.
