The National Inland Waterways Authority has confirmed that 12 persons lost their lives in the recent boat mishap that occurred in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government area of Kwara State.
The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has commiserated with the state House of Assembly and people of Lafiagi, headquarters of Edu Local Government Area of the state, over the demise of the pioneer Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Shehu Usman.
The workers, under the aegis of Committee of Unions of Tertiary Institutions of Colleges of Education in Kwara, had issued three days warning a week ago for the government to act.
