The Sector Commander, Hyginus Omeje, who said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos, added that this would put an end to the perennial gridlock.
Omeje said: “The state command, this week, inaugurated operation ‘Show your License’ campaign across the state to arrest motorists who had no valid driving license.
This was disclosed by the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, while receiving the Secretary of Transportation for the FCT, Kayode Opeifa, during his courtesy visit to the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja on Tuesday.
It said bearing arms would help in protecting the commission’s personnel in the course of duty.
Sunday Ajayi, the state’s FRSC Sector Commander, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka.

In a statement by its spokesman, Bisi Kazeem, the FRSC said its attention had been drawn to complaints from applicants of driver’s licence who have captured and collected their temporal licences but are yet to receive their permanent drivers licence of difficulty to secure their permanent drivers licence after several months of processing.
Olalekan Morakinyo, FRSC’s Head of Operation in Lagos, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday that traffic lock down was as a result of influx of tankers to Apapa ports.
“This has further underscored the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi’s advice to motorists to avoid night journeys, be careful around construction sites and drive within approved speed limits.”
Oyeyemi gave the warning while addressing staff at the September edition of the Corps Marshal’s parade held at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, the Corps said in a statement on its website.
Kazeem said the plan also required amendment of the National Road Safety Regulations to include provisions for the safety of cyclists.
