Liverpool snapped up the Chelsea academy product on a free transfer.

Solanke, 17, was an integral member of the Chelsea Academy teams last season and scored in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final as well as the UEFA Youth League final.

The 17-year-old was an integral part of the England Under-17 side that were crowned European Champions in May, with Solanke finishing the tournament as joint-top scorer, while he was also named UEFA’s Star of 2014

Diego Costa is out with a hamstring injury and Loic Remy is battling a calf problem, meaning Solanke could be thrown into the fray as an alternative to Didier Drogba who is likely to start

Solanke helped Chelsea win the UEFA Youth League final against Shakhtar Donetsk on Monday

The young forward, who struck 20 goals for the Chelsea Under-18 last season, has featured in more than two hours of match action across the club’s four pre-season fixtures to date
