Desmond Utomwen, the Media Assistant to the SSAP-SDGs in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said Orelope-Adefulire made the call at an event to commemorate the Universal Children’s Day.

Utomwen, who is also the publisher of Freshnewsng.com, a leading online publication based in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, was chosen for the award in recognition of his courage, professionalism and the dogged campaign against abuse of journalists and protection of media practitioners in Africa, the NUJ stated.
It is evident, and heartening to note here that there is a wind of reform and positive change in the mind-set of the top echelon of the police force with regards to the appreciation of the activities of the media
The competition, which was keenly contested, had 12 outstanding street photographs on showcase, each photograph selected from submissions by the 12 contestants
Madam Utomwen died at the early hours of January 8, 2016 after a brief illness in Benin City, Edo State
