At a well attended lying in state and funeral service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Victoria Island, Lagos, tributes, eulogies and tears poured in freely for Tinubu, who until his demise was the Special Adviser to Governor Ambode on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives.

In his condolence message to the Tinubu Family and the Akinwunmi Ambode-led Lagos State Government, Obasa prayed to God to give the deceased a peaceful rest and the family as well as the state government the fortitude to bear the huge loss.
Tinubu reportedly slumped during a novelty match as part of activities at a retreat involving officials of the Lagos State Government in Epe and was later confirmed dead at the General Hospital in the same town.
The Media Officer of LMC, the apex ruling body of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Harry Iwuala, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria said he would be missed by all.
Dalung described the death as too shocking and sudden to be true.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Tinubu died on Thursday after a novelty match during a retreat for commissioners and special advisers to Governor Akinwumi Ambode at Epe, a district of Lagos State.
The Government in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kehinde Bamigbetan, expressed “shock and disbelief’ over the sudden death of Tinubu and has reached out to his immediate family to commiserate on this huge loss to the family and the citizens of Lagos State.
Tinubu, 54, slumped on Thursday while taking part in a novelty football match during a retreat organised by the Lagos State Government in Epe, and was later pronounced dead.
Tinubu, as earlier reported by The Eagle Online, slumped and died while engaged in a game of football in Epe, where the State Executive Council was holding a retreat
Tinubu was recently moved in a cabinet shake up by Ambode from Special Adviser on Sports to Commerce and Industry
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Sports, Deji Tinubu, gave the assurance on Tuesday during a scheduled visit to the stadium, popularly known as The Soccer Temple.
Olowookere, who defeated his counterpart from Ghana in the finals of the competition over the weekend at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, said the conduct of the competition was of international standard and an exposure to the abilities of athletes from other climes.
