The Special Adviser to the Lagos State governor on Commerce and Industries, Ayodeji Tinubu, was finally laid to rest in Lagos on Tuesday.
Late Tinubu, who also headed the Lagos State Sports Commission before his redeployment to Commerce and Industries, was committed to mother earth at the Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
Just before the burial, a laying in state and service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Victoria Island.
Pastor Supo Yomade of the RCCG, City of David, began his sermon from the books Hebrews 9:27, which states: “But we shall see Jesus, who was made of a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”
The clergy pleaded with the families, the Lagos State Government, friends and his business partners to celebrate him rather than mourn him.
Yomade’s words: “We are celebrating life but people could be asking how come you are celebrating the life of Brother Deji Tinubu.
“We can’t say we lost him since we know where he is.
“God celebrates the home coming of the saints because they have finished their own course.
“Why are we celebrating life or why are we celebrating Deji?
“For us he is in heaven.
“His business partner saw him in his dream and Deji told him I’m better than you and this is because he is in heaven.
“In heaven, no pain, no cry, no fuel but it is all joy.
“We are also celebrating because he was killed by nobody.
“He (Deji Tinubu) died at his appointed time.
“No one killed him because he was a Christian to a fault.”
The wife of the Vice President, Pastor Dolapo Osinbajo, who graced the service, led the prayers for the family.
The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode; the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; diplomats; top politicians; and other top state executives bade their final farewell at the service.
Tinubu, aged 54, is survived by wife, two kids, aged mother and a brother.
