The Managing Director of the NAN, Buki Ponle, disclosed this plan in New York, United States of America.

NAN reports that ANSA, the leading news agency in Italy, is a not-for-profit cooperative founded in 1945.

Ponle made the appeal at a meeting he held with the management and members of staff of the agency at its Lagos office.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported on Thursday that the new zones will begin operation on January 1, 2023.

Ponle said this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja while reacting to a letter from the Joint Union of the Agency giving the management a seven-day ultimatum to provide rice as Christmas gift for workers, among others.

The move, according to the Agency’s Managing Director, Buki Ponle, followed high level consultations by the management of the Agency with the relevant government institutions and the Nigerian embassies in South Africa, Ethiopia and Cote d’ivoire.

The President General, SSASCGOC, Kayode Alakija, made this known during a courtesy call on the Managing Director of NAN, Buki Ponle, in his office in Abuja, Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of NAN, Buki Ponle, and Director General of BTA, Kiril Valchev.

NAN Managing Director Buki Ponle, disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to Amb. Ihab Awad, the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, in his office in Abuja.

Ponle said at the inauguration that the facelift was to demonstrate the commitment of NAN management to improving staff welfare through provision of a decent work environment.

Nwoha made the appeal on Wednesday in Ilorin in his remark at the opening of a two-day NAN Annual Editorial Conference.

Ponle made this known in an interview on Thursday shortly after the Vice Chancellor, University of Maiduguri, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

The Managing Director of the agency, Buki Ponle, made the presentation when he appeared before the committee.

Ponle gave the hints during a meeting with members of staff of the agency in the Lagos State office of the agency.

The workshop, which held in Lagos, was organised by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

Before then, Wada, as he was popularly and preferably known, was Managing Director of the news agency for eight years, after working as Editor-in-Chief. The former Editor-in-Chief, who was a pioneer member of staff in 1978 with eight others, following the establishment of NAN in 1976, also served variously as Zonal Editor, Kaduna, in charge of western states, Politics Editor and Western Europe Correspondent, London.

Ponle made the appeal on Thursday in Abuja at a ceremony to immortalise the agency’s late Managing Director, Malam Wada Maida.

Ponle disclosed this when the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja on Tuesday.
