The request was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, who disclosed that APPEALS Project in the State has empowered about 8,000 farmers, especially women and youths in the last five years.

He made the statement while receiving the new World Bank Task Team Leader (TTL), Dr. Manievel Emmanuel Sene, outgoing TTL, Dr. Adetunji Oredipe and other World Bank and APPEALS officials, who paid him a courtesy call at his official residence in Ikoyi, during their familiarisation tour to Lagos.
The project has also contributed N333.9 million to Lagos State GDP by 924 farmers supported by the project in 2020 from the Production Output Survey validated by Lagos State Bureau of Statistics (LBS) which translates to 0.07 per cent.

Speaking during a Field Day for Rice Seed Outgrower Scheme to farmers supported by APPEALS Project in Epe and Lekki areas of Lagos, the State Project Coordinator of APPEALS, Oluranti Sagoe-Oviebo, said APPEALS Project sponsored by Lagos State Government in conjunction with the Federal Government and World Bank is supporting and building farmers’ productivity in rice value chain with technology for food security.
