Last week, President Muhammadu Buhari nominated Bawa as EFCC chairman and asked the upper legislative chamber to confirm his appointment.
The nomination of Bawa was announced on the floor of the Senate last week in a letter submitted by President Buhari, which was read by the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan.
The move comes amid a lawsuit challenging Bawa’s qualification for the job.
The nomination of the youthful and very thorough security operative to replace the embattled and suspended former Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, will obviously set a new pace for the commission, what with Bawa’s track record of inimitable achievement as a ground breaker.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday sent the nomination of 40-year-old Bawa to the Senate for confirmation, saying the request was in accordance with paragraph 2 (3) of Part1, CAP E1 of EFCC Act 2004.
