The caucus said it is disturbed by the silence of the APC-led government to the “worrisome development,” which it said smacks of an attempt to shield corrupt officials within its system.

Bawa stated this on Thursday while speaking during the weekly Ministerial Briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Bawa, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in New York, said many corruption cases were being investigated while others were at different stages of prosecution.

The matter, which was before a Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu was fixed for Monday, May 17, for the EFCC to give a report on its effort at extraditing Alison-Madueke to the country to stand her trial.

SERAP said: “Any such investigation should establish whether public funds have been mismanaged, diverted or stolen in the guise of implementing the duplicated and mysterious projects. Anyone suspected to be responsible should face prosecution as appropriate, if there is sufficient admissible evidence, and any stolen public funds should be fully recovered.”
SERAP urged him to “direct Mr Malami and appropriate anti-corruption agencies to investigate why the Safe Schools Initiative, established to bolster security at schools in response to the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls has failed to stop frequent abductions of students, and to ensure the safety and security of Nigerian children in schools across the country.”

The EFCC listed some of the fake Twitter accounts to be @AbdurasheedBawa, @AbdulrBawa and @AbdulRashidBawa1.
The request was contained in a letter dated April 17, 2021 and signed by SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare.
The reports were handed over to the Chairman of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, in Abuja by Prof. Gbenga Oduntan of Kent Law School, University of Kent, United Kingdom, the lead researcher that conducted the investigation into the discovery of the loot.
SERAP stated that “if there is relevant and sufficient admissible evidence, anyone suspected to be involved should face prosecution, as appropriate.”
The EFCC boss stressed that discipline, commitment and dedication were critical to the success of any organisation.
