The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, have shut down the National Assembly.
The closure, just for Thursday, is to enable members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the National Assembly to attend the party’s rebranding programme.
It is scheduled to hold on Thursday.
The Senate, however, said plenary was shut down to honour the late Acting Clerk of the Senate, Durojaye Adedotun, who died last week Friday.
However, investigation by our correspondent revealed that the decision to shut down the session for PDP rebranding programme was arrived at during a closed-door session on Wednesday, which lasted for about 45 minutes.
A source at the closed-door session, who pleaded anonymity, said the decision to shut plenary was arrived at during the Executive Session for the “PDP rebranding”.
