The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Felix Obuah, has terminated the contract of two service providers with the agency for non-performance.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Sole Admiinistrator, Jerry Needam, Obuah announced the sack while carrying out his early morning routine checks in parts of Port Harcourt, the state capital, and its environ on Thursday.
He said the decision became necessary following the inability of the service providers to keep their zones clean despite repeated warnings and appeals by the agency.
The Sole Administrator assured that the measure would serve as a deterrent to other recalcitrant service providers who do not want to take their jobs seriously.
The RIWAMA boss had recently charged service providers with the agency to take their work seriously or have their contracts terminated, even as he reiterated that the task to keep Port Harcourt, the state capital, and its environs clean at all times is a mission that must be accomplished and frowned particularly at the nonchalance of some contractors in the discharge of their duties.
