Rangers Feeders on Thursday defeated rivals in the Nationwide League One, Lamray United FC 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Enugu State FA Cup.
By this result, Rangers Feeders have qualified for the semi-finals of the FA Cup and would wait for the winner between their parent club and FC Inter on May 15.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ugochukwu Odoh scored the only goal in the 58th minute of the keenly contested match at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
All efforts by Lamray to equalise were firmly resisted by the Rangers Feeders team.
Rangers Feeders Coach, Basil Obeta, told the News Agency of Nigeria after the game that his team prepared well for the match.
NAN reports that Rangers Feeders had lost 6-2 to Lamray United FC in their meeting in the Nationwide League One encounter on May 3.
Obeta said: “Remember that we lost to this team in the league and after that match, we went home and worked on our lapses, so that is why we were able to beat them this time around.
“It may interest you to know that we were not well prepared for them in the league encounter because many0 of our players were just returning from national assignments.
“Many of our players were just coming back from the National Grassroots Sports Festival in Abuja, and we have no option than to throw them into the team straight away.’’
Obeta told NAN that the victory was a sweet revenge for the humiliating defeat they suffered at the hands of Lamray.
He expressed the belief that they would be able to repeat the feat in the return leg of the league.
