Two men – Owolabi Tope, 31, and Shina Ajayi, 32, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged housebreaking and stealing.
The defendants, who reside in Ise-Ekiti, are facing two counts of housebreaking and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 19, between 9.00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m, at off Iju road, behind FMC hospital, Ise-Ekiti.
Olasunkanmi alleged that the defendants broke into the house of the complainant, Ajenifunja Olusegun and stole one Infinix Hot 8 phone valued at N80,000, cash sum of N262,000 and one palm sandal valued at N2,500.
He said the offences contravened sections 411 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel for the first defendant, Gbenga Ariyibi and the second defendant, Lawrence Fasanmi, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Michael Faola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until March 24, for hearing.
