There has been a gun battle at Hawon Kibo in Riyom Local Government Area and Rankun in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Casualty figures as at the time of filing this report on Monday night was yet to be ascertained, but four persons are supposedly killed in Rankun in Barkin Ladi, according to a source.
Report says the battle might have been between the Fulanis and the Berom natives in the areas.
They have for a long time taken the postures of enemies and live a jungle life.
A source also told The Eagle Online that Rankun village was also under siege on Monday by suspected Fulani marauders.
“The affected communities are however calling on federal and state governments to intensify efforts towards ending the circle of violent attacks being perpetuated by Fulanis against the Beroms in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau State,” the source said.
Another source said it is regrettable that the recent attack is coming barely 24 hours after the government of Governor Simon Lalong had a security meeting with community leaders of Fulanis, Beroms and others and solicited for peaceful co-existence among the farmers and herdsmen in the state.
The Eagle Online recalls that the Middle belt areas have for years now been gripped with the issue of Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashing, particularly those in Plateau, Nasarawa and Benue States.
